Frequently Asked Questions

Who are you? What are your qualifications?

This is perhaps the question I am asked most often. For some reason, people are exquisitely curious about the person behind the words, and want to know about my background. But I have decided not to advertise whatever qualifications I might have, for one simple reason: readers will form a bias about my words if they find out who or what I am, whatever that might be. Some people would pay more attention to my site if they thought I had a PhD in psychology, some people less. Some people would dismiss my ideas outright if they thought I was an average married woman with a high school diploma, some would embrace them because of it. I maintain that these ideas are a place to start, food for thought for anyone interested in the subject of marriage, and so it is completely irrelevant what or who I am. Read these ideas for yourself, and judge them on their own merits, not on the source.

I have been assigned one of your essays for school, can you tell me who you are and when it was published?

I handle these requests on a case by case basis. Contact me with details of your essay or assignment and I may be able to help. Teachers: Contact me before assigning one of my articles to your class and asking them to credit me in their work.

Where did you come up with all of this content?

I developed these ideas over several years during the early years of my own marriage, as a way of presenting a simple, concise and rational view of marriage as a good thing. One subject easily led to another, and the more I discussed the basics with friends and even strangers, the more pages needed to be written.

Why are there links to products and sites on your site?

Instead of charging for access to the site, or cluttering it up with paid ads, I try to cover my hosting costs through the small revenue I make from my readers clicking on Amazon products I recommend or joining sites I approve of. I often get donations from generous readers, too, for which I am very thankful. Your support allows me to continue to provide this free site and the information that so many people find valuable.

Is this site available in book form?

I am currently in production on a book, which should be available soon. Keep checking back for updates. Or, if you would like to be added to a mailing list to be notified when it's out, please email me

Can I reproduce one of your articles on my website?

Generally I am happy to see my ideas out there, with a few provisos. Please remember that all contents of this site are copyright protected, so do not reproduce any of it without either contacting me or providing a link back to this site. I would appreciate hearing from you if have linked to any of my pages.

Is that you in the pictures?

No :(

Are you a feminist/fundamentalist/Christian/traditionalist?

No!

Do you offer counseling or advice?

When I started this site in 2001, I never imagined that people would write to me asking for advice or help, but I am pleased to say I have personally counseled over 1000 people during that time. When time permits, I do offer my advice, so please write in.
